Houseloop (“Houseloop,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) operates the website houseloop.app and the Houseloop application (collectively, the “Service”). This Privacy Notice explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over it.
By using Houseloop you consent to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. For our rules of use, see our Terms of Service.
1. Information We Collect
Account information
- Email address: required to sign in via one time code, Sign in with Apple, or Sign in with Google.
- Name and household name: what you enter during onboarding.
- Profile picture: only if you sign in with Google or Apple and they provide one.
Household and task content
- Tasks and notes you create, along with their due dates, status, and assignees.
- Family member entries: names, roles, and (optionally) phone numbers or emails you provide so Houseloop can deliver tasks to them.
- Voice recordings: short audio clips you record for voice to text task capture. Audio is sent to our transcription provider and is not retained after the text is returned.
- Proof photos: images uploaded by recipients to confirm a task was completed. Stored in our private file storage and accessible only to your household.
Device and usage information
- Push notification tokens for sending reminders to your device.
- Approximate location derived from IP address (for rate limiting and fraud prevention only. We don’t use precise location).
- Operational logs: basic technical telemetry such as request times and error counts so we can keep the Service running.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information above to:
- Operate and maintain the Service;
- Authenticate you and protect your account from unauthorized access;
- Deliver tasks to recipients via shareable links, SMS (Plus tier), or email;
- Send push notifications you have enabled;
- Transcribe voice recordings into task text;
- Suggest routines based on patterns in your task history (Plus tier);
- Process subscription payments via Apple or Google;
- Respond to support requests;
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your household content for any form of advertising.
3. Service Providers
Houseloop relies on a small set of vetted service providers to operate. Each receives only the data needed to perform its specific function on our behalf, and is contractually prohibited from using your data for any other purpose.
- Cloud database and file storage: hosts your account, household, tasks, and proof photos.
- Transactional email provider: delivers sign in codes and household invites.
- Voice transcription provider: converts the short audio clips you record into text. Audio is sent for transcription and is not retained afterward. The provider does not use submitted audio to train its models.
- AI routine-suggestion provider (Plus tier only): identifies patterns in your task history to suggest routines. Submissions are not used to train models.
- SMS delivery provider: delivers text messages to recipients when you use the auto SMS feature (Plus tier).
- Push notification provider: delivers reminders and status updates to your device.
- Subscription billing platform: coordinates subscription state with Apple and Google.
- Apple and Google: process subscription billing and (optionally) authenticate you via Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google.
- Cloud hosting and content delivery: hosts and serves the Houseloop web service.
4. Apple and Google Sign In Data
When you choose Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google, the provider shares with us only the information needed to identify your account:
- A stable user identifier;
- Your email address (Apple may provide a private relay address);
- Your name (first sign in only, if you allow it);
- Profile picture, if available.
We request the scopes openid, email, and profile only. We do not access your Apple or Google contacts, calendar, drive, or any other data outside basic identity.
5. Children’s Information
Houseloop is intended for users 18 and older. We do not knowingly create accounts for children under 13 (or 16 in the EU). However, Houseloop is designed to help parents coordinate family tasks, which often involves entering information about children (their first names, ages, or activities) into tasks.
That information is treated as part of your household’s private content: visible only to people you have explicitly added to your household, never used for advertising, never sold, and deletable by you at any time. 6. How We Share Information
We share your information only as follows:
- With other members of your household you have explicitly added or invited.
- With recipients of handoff links you choose to send (they see only the task you sent them, not your other data).
- With service providers listed in Section 3, strictly to deliver functionality.
- When required by law: such as a valid subpoena or court order.
- In connection with a business transfer: if Houseloop is acquired, your information may transfer to the successor, subject to this Privacy Notice.
7. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except where we’re required by law to retain it longer (e.g., for financial records).
Voice recordings are not retained at all. They are transcribed and immediately discarded.
8. Your Rights
You can:
- Access your account data from within the Houseloop app.
- Correct or update your information in Settings.
- Delete individual tasks, proof photos, or your entire account.
- Export your data by emailing hello@houseloop.app and we will deliver a machine readable copy within 30 days.
- Withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account.
Residents of California (CCPA / CPRA), the EU and UK (GDPR), Virginia (VCDPA), and other regions with comparable laws have specific rights including the right to know, the right to deletion, the right to portability, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. Email hello@houseloop.app to exercise any of them.
9. Security
We use industry-standard security: TLS for data in transit, encryption at rest for database storage, HMAC-signed recipient and calendar URLs, bcrypt-hashed sign in codes, and access controls that limit data to authorized members of your household. No system is perfectly secure; if we ever become aware of a breach affecting your data, we will notify you in compliance with applicable law.
10. International Transfers
Houseloop is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the US, you understand that your information will be transferred to and stored in the US, where data-protection laws may differ from those of your country.
11. Changes to This Notice
We may update this Privacy Notice from time to time. Material changes will be announced in app or by email at least 30 days before they take effect. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.
